INTERNSHIP 2021 | COMPANY GUYONNEAU SARL

I did an internship of 6 weeks in the company " GUYONNEAU SARL ", from May 17 to June 25, 2021.

It is a commercial agency that represents on the French market several prestigious brands of bicycle accessories. I chose this internship because, the company being small, I was given very diverse and interesting tasks. Indeed, my mission was marketing and sales assistant. This internship allowed me to focus for a month on the marketing and commercial aspects of a company, essential to the creation or management of any company.

I/ PRESENTATION DE L’ENTREPRISE

A/ History and organization of the company :

Guyonneau Distribution is a commercial agency, based in Jouques in the Bouches du Rhône. It is the exclusive representative in France of several foreign brands of bicycle accessories. It also uses a marketing agency to manage its website and communication on social networks. The agency was created in 1996 by the two brothers Sylvain and Vincent Guyonneau. They set up a limited liability company because they were two managers. Vincent left in 2001. Sylvain then became a EURL.

Sylvain is mainly in charge of emails, calls, customer and supplier visits, commercial negotiations, presence at events and customer service. He has to regularly visit the different brands' headquarters to find out about new products and strategic, marketing and sales policies. From time to time, he/she also makes customer rounds with the sales managers of the various brands. He also takes care of the contact with the sponsored athletes and the accounting of the company.

The agency is also in constant contact with the brands' headquarters for orders, price negotiations, implementation of commercial operations and seminars. Today, the company's registered name remains Guyonneau Frères SARL, but it is known as Guyonneau Distribution.

B/ The status of ''Guyonneau Frères" :

Why do these brands choose an exclusive representative in France?

The advantage for the brands is that the costs are minimal: the Guyonneau agency manages all its costs and charges. It is paid in commission by the brands only on the turnover it brings in (2.5 or 5%). The commission is included in the selling price. There is no stock in France. The goods are delivered directly from the foreign factories to the French wholesalers.

A multi-card sales agency has the advantage of being well introduced on the market both with distributors and cycle manufacturers. How does the agency choose its cards ? The agency commits itself not to sell competing products. The choice is made on quality products with a strong development potential

II/ MISSIONS CARRIED OUT

I was hired as a marketing assistant. As the company is small, I was able to carry out many varied missions ranging from creating PowerPoint presentations to updating the website. My work was mainly focused on the Continental brand, but also for Sigma Sport and to a lesser extent for SwissStop.

The differents missions I had to realize :

Creation of NewsLetter to inform resellers about news or commercial actions :

Updates to the site www.guyonneau.fr .

Entering customer orders on the suppliers' B2B.

Realization of e-mailing to cycle resellers.

Creation of PowerPoint for commercial presentations.

Help for the creation of a PLV :

III/ CONCLUSION

I was very satisfied with this internship. The great variety in the proposed missions made my internship active and interesting. I enjoyed almost all the missions because it was not a repetitive work but a creative work.

I was able to understand the interest and the importance that marketing could have on the image of a brand and the necessity to be very active and regular in the communication.

Moreover, I was really involved in my internship because I was given important missions, and my work was going to have visibility (like the website updates for example).

This internship allowed me to adapt to different situations with for example the creation of a PowerPoint for a Sigma Sport presentation. I received the graphic elements at the last minute.

I was also able to improve my skills in autonomy, speed and taking initiatives.

I would like to thank my internship supervisor, Sylvain, for his confidence, because it is what allowed him to give me important but also interesting tasks and that made my internship very instructive in addition to being exciting.
